The inclement weather had already disrupted the Royals' opening series at Kauffman Stadium, but the Kansas City-Milwaukee series was also postponed for the same reason. These teams will play the first doubleheader of the 2026 MLB season, but the game originally scheduled for the early afternoon will remain at its original time.
Veteran pitcher Wacha was slated to start for the Royals yesterday, but his start was canceled at the last minute due to illness. Ávila was confirmed to replace him and was also expected to start Saturday's game. Ávila is a promising 6'3" Venezuelan flamethrower who was part of the Venezuelan team that recently won the WBC and has already pitched a few innings for Kansas City in 2025. His task would be to pitch at least 2 or 3 innings.
The Brewers, a team that started quite well at the plate with a 5-1 record, will keep Chad Patrick as their starter. He looked excellent in his first start of the year, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing only one earned run, a home run. But this time he faces a tough Kansas City lineup.

Our Kansas City Royals vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
When Wacha was the starting pitcher, the odds for the Royals-Brewers game were even; they still are, but they've shifted slightly in favor of the Brewers. Having a bullpen game in the middle of a doubleheader isn't ideal for Kansas City, especially against a Milwaukee offense that tends to generate big rallies.
The Royals' offense has some good names, but there's concern that Witt Jr., their star pitcher, is getting off to a slow start, and in their last loss to the Twins, they generally looked a bit anxious at the plate.
Our prediction for Royals vs Brewers is: Brewers ML.
