Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Miami Marlins (54-90) take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (68-76) tonight for game two of their 3-game series. In game one, rookie sensation Paul Skenes, was on point. He went 6 innings and struck out 9 batters while holding the Marlins to just 1 run on 6 hits. Trailing 3-1 going into the 9th, Cristian Pache doubled in Jesus Sanchez off Aroldis Chapman to cut the lead to 1 but it was not enough as the Pirates won 3-2. In the win, O’Neil Cruz hit his 19th home run of the season in the win for Pittsburgh. Tonight, Carmen Mlodzinski (2-5, 3.73) will get the start for Pittsburgh. Albeit, likely to be a short appearance. He is the designated “opener” and has spent all his time coming out of the bullpen. For the Marlins, Adam Oller (1-2, 4.15) will get the go. He is coming off a 5.1 inning outing and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits. More suspect was his control, as he walked 5 batters while striking out 6. He will need to be better than that against this Pirates lineup. Neither of these teams have hopes of the postseason so they will be looking to see how their teams fight down the stretch and what younger players make the most of their late opportunities.
