The Miami Marlins head North to begin a 4-game series with a division opponent, the New York Mets, tonight. This will be the 1st meeting of the teams since they exchanged home sweeps back in May.
Miami is coming off a huge sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies. They snapped a 12-game losing streak when they took game one against Philly and continued that momentum all the way through the series. They posted 8 runs in the bookend games of the series and used a brilliant start from Sandy Alcantara in game two to pick up a 1-0 win. Now they will rely on Eury Perez to maintain their momentum, but he will likely need solid run support.
New York has been struggling all season. The fan base is already giving up on the season, and with the team being 17.5 games out of 1st in the division, it is not a surprise. That said, they still have the ability to post runs on any given night. They just put up 14 runs a couple of nights ago against Martin Perez and the Braves. With the Marlins being in the top 10 in combined batting average, the Mets will need to give starter Nolan McLean some support in this one.

Both starters were strong in their last starts against these lineups a couple of months ago. That said, we do not expect the bats to stay quiet in this one. We believe the total is too low because of those last starts and gives us value here on the over. We like this 1st game of the series to see some fireworks and see the total go over the number.
