The Miami Marlins will be aiming to snap a dismal eight game losing streak when they take on the Houston Astros on Wednesday evening at Daikin Park.
The matchup will be the third contest of a series that the Astros have thus far dominated. In game one, Yordan Alvarez struck two homers to help Houston secure an 8-5 victory, before an improving pitching performance from Tatsuya Imai saw Houston record a 5-3 win in game two.
Those victories have moved the Astros to within three games of the Seattle Mariners at the top of the AL West. However, with a daunting run of fixtures coming up over the next two weeks, Houston will need to continue their fine form against the Marlins if they want to stay in touch at the top of the standings.
As for Miami, their eight game losing run has seen them fall six games behind the Braves in the NL East table. A swift return to form is essential if the Marlins are to have any chance of reaching the postseason.
