The Detroit Tigers (4-9) will host the Miami Marlins (8-5) this evening. It will begin a 3-game set and a 6-game homestand for the Tigers. Detroit is coming home from a 4-game series in Minnesota, where they were handed a sweep by the Twins. In three of the four games, Detroit was held to 3 runs or less, and in the one game they were able to break out for 6 runs, they allowed 8. They are hoping that coming home will bring them some good vibes against the visiting Marlins.

Unlike the Tigers, the Marlins have played well recently. They are coming into this series after taking the final two games of their 4-game series with the Reds. Their bats were hot as they scored 7 and 8 runs respectively. The young duo of Owen Caissie and Liam Hicks has led the offense for the Marlins to this point. They have combined for 5 home runs and 25 RBIs, while each hitting over.300. They will look to stay hot here against Detroit’s Keider Montero, who has never had an ERA under 4.00 in his career.

The Marlins offense may need to get all the runs it can in this one. They are sending Chris Paddack to the mound to face his Detroit lineup. While he looked good in his last start, Paddack was knocked around by the White Sox in his season debut for 8 runs on 8 hits in just 4 innings of work.
