The Marlins, despite being blown out by the Pirates and losing 1-13 in the final game of the series, won three of their four series in August. Without rest, the "Fighting Fish" will be at Great American Ballpark on Friday to face the Mets and the tough pitcher Chase Burns.

It will be an engaging game where the Marlins will rely on Sandy Alcántara. On April 7, when the venue was Miami, the Dominican pitcher threw 8.1 innings against the Reds in a game his team lost 3-6, but it was a series against Cincinnati in which the Marlins took two out of three. Alcántara has a 13-6 record. He's having an excellent run lately, breaking the franchise record for innings pitched and throwing 20 scoreless innings in his last three starts against the Phillies, Mets, and Angels.

The Mets will counter with Burns, who has a 13-2 record this year. In 124 innings pitched, he struck out 143 batters this year; he's been pitching much more effectively at home compared to when he's been on the road. The last time he pitched in Cincinnati, he earned his 13th win of the season and struck out 9 Pirates.
