The Braves failed to follow up on their 8-6 win in Game 1, as they reverted to their old habits in Friday’s 1-5 loss to the Marlins. After exploding for eight runs in the series opener, Atlanta’s offense went missing again with their only run of the night coming from a homer by outfielder Jurickson Profar. Atlanta slides to 48-67 in the season, fourth in the NL East.
The Marlins have won two of their last three games to move one win away from reaching .500 at 56-57. Miami, averaging 3.6 runs per game this season, opened the game with five unanswered runs, capped by a homer from designated hitter Heriberto Hernandez.
