The Atlanta Braves will attempt to secure their first win of the season as they welcome the Miami Marlins in Friday’s Game 1 of their three-game series at Truist Park.
The Braves remain winless seven games into the 2025 MLB season. Atlanta came close to ending their drought on Wednesday, but they blew a 5-0 lead on the LA Dodgers, opening the door for Shohei Ohtani to deliver a walk-off homer in the 9th inning.
The Marlins lost their rubber match with the New York Mets, 6-5, in their series finale also Wednesday. Miami controlled a 4-1 lead at the end of the seventh inning, but Mets star Pete Alonso ignited the comeback with a game-tying three-run blast in the 8th inning. After the Mets scored two runs off Jesse Winker and Mark Vientos in the 11th inning, Xavier Edwards tried to rally Miami back into the game with an RBI single. Still, Mets’ Huascar Brazoban shut the door for a comeback by earning the final outs of the match.
