The Memphis Grizzlies (24-50 SU, 35-39 ATS) visit the Detroit Pistons (13-61 SU, 38-36 ATS), who have been surprisingly feisty lately. The Pistons have been playing out the string since their NBA-record 28-game losing streak, but they've been hanging around on the strength of their defense. The Pistons rank 26th in the NBA in points allowed per game, which has been their biggest problem. The offense seems to have a pretty firm ceiling of around 110 points most nights, leaving the defense to decide things.
That could play right into Memphis' hands. The Grizzlies have had success when their defense has done the job and come up well short when they have a bad day defensively. As long as the Grizzlies don't get overly aggressive and send the Pistons to the line too often, this game could require only 100 points to win.
Memphis' one strength is its defense, and the Grizzlies have had a day to rest after playing in Orlando the night before. The Grizzlies also seem to play fairly consistent basketball as opposed to playing to the level of their competition.
