The 2025 Eastbourne Open women’s singles final will feature two rising stars looking to establish a name on grass. Philippine tennis sensation Alexandra Eala will take on Maya Joon of Australia for all the marbles on Saturday.
Eala becomes the first player from the Philippines to reach the final WTA Main Tour tournament following a gritty three-set victory over Varvara Gracheva of France 7-5 2-6 6-3 on Friday. Ranked No. 68 in the world, Eala picked up her seventh consecutive win the hard way as she had to dig deep to outlast Gracheva in a match with so many momentum swings and rallies. Eala is now a career 15-6 on grass and 10-3 on the surface in 2025.
Joint advanced to her second WTA Main Tour final with a straight-set win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5 6-3. The 19-year-old Aussie has now claimed four straight wins in this tourney, including a trio of signature wins over former Wimbledon Open runner-up Ons Jabeur, former US Open winner Emma Raducanu 7-5 6-2, and Pavlyuchenkova, who reached the quarterfinal at SW19 in 2016 and final at Roland Garros in 2021.
