Mariano Navone of Argentina will duke it out with Alexander Shevchenko of Kazakhstan for the first time in Tuesday's opening round of the 2025 Chile Open. Navone came a win short of back-to-back quarterfinal stints as he fell to Sabastian Baez 6-4 1-6 6-3 in the second round of the 2025 Rio Open. Navone managed to level the score at 1-1 set after a near flawless performance in the second set. However, Baez was able to pull through, securing the most important points in the third set to carve out the win. Navone recorded 29 points off his first serves and converted five break points in a losing effort. Shevchenko has lost his last three matches, including a tough 7-6(1) 7-6(6) loss to No.1 seed Alexander Zverev of Germany in the second round of the Rio Open. The Kazakh won 45 points off his first serves and secured three service breaks, but he could not deliver the goods in the clutch as Zverev came out on top of the two tiebreakers.

Our Mariano Navone vs Alexander Shevchenko Prediction
Shevchenko will play Navone for the first time. The Kazakh has won three of his last four matches but fought a strong game against Zverev in his last assignment. Navone is 3-2 in his last five matches and earned significant wins over prominent foes such as Holger Rune, Francisco Comesana, and Roberto Carlos Baena. This match is hard to predict, but I am rolling the dice on Shevchenko largely because of how well he played against Zverev during his last outing. Our betting prediction for Alexander Shevchenko vs. Mariano Navone: Shevchenko will win.
