In this quarter-final of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament, Greece's Maria Sakkari takes on American and local Emma Navarro. Maria Sakkari, a member of the top 10, is seeded 9th in this American tournament. Although she suffered 3 consecutive defeats in early February, the Greek seems to have rediscovered her good form in this tournament. She won her first-round match by imposing a stern 6-0 final set victory over Diana Shanider, and then went on to win her Round of 16 match in just 79 minutes against world No. 26 Caroline Garcia. She needed 3 sets to win her last 8 match against Frenchwoman Diane Parry to reach the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells tournament once again. Emma Navarro, meanwhile, lost a set in each of her 3 matches in the tournament.
