In the 2025/2026 La Liga betting odds, Real Madrid is the favorite to win the competition, rather than reigning champions Barcelona, although they are close behind. Since the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons, the Spanish top division hasn't had consecutive champions, but Hansi Flick's Barcelona are looking to break that barrier and will be the clear betting favorites for their Matchday 1 match against Mallorca at Son Moix.

Barcelona looked as polished in their preseason as they had last season, winning both La Liga and the Copa del Rey. On August 10, they crushed the competitive Como side of Serie A, beating them 5-0, scoring all their goals before the 50th minute. Fermín López excelled, and Lamine Yamal also scored twice.

In terms of Barcelona player news ahead of Saturday's game, Iñigo Martínez has departed for Arab football and will no longer be with Barcelona; Lamine Yamal contributed goals in Barcelona's last three preseason matches; Olmo remains doubtful against Mallorca due to a muscle injury; Flick will be without Lewandowski due to a hamstring issue; and, again due to a back injury, Ter Stegen will not be in goal for Barcelona on Saturday.
