Winless Maccabi Tel Aviv host French side Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday evening, in a must-win game for the Israeli side.
Maccabi have picked up just one point in their opening four games in the competition, and their lack of attacking threat has been brutally exposed by the likes of Aston Villa, Dinamo Zagreb and Midtjylland. Their tally of just one goal in four games is the joint lowest in the Europa League this season, and unless they can start finding the net on a regular basis, they will have virtually no chance of making it to the next phase.
In contrast to Maccabi, Lyon have made a terrific start to the campaign and currently occupy one of the eight automatic qualification places. However, last time out, the French side suffered a surprising 2-0 loss at Betis, and they are currently without a win in five games in all competitions.
