Darderi opened his campaign in Montreal with a 6-4, 2-3 ret. win over Gabriel Diallo and then gutted out come-from-behind wins over Jerry Shang, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, and Nuno Borges, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
