The Lakers' best player on the court by far was Luka Doncic, with a night of 49 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, the Slovenian, who is very prone to injuries, sprained his finger. Because of this, he is likely to miss the Lakers' next game against the Kings, their first away game of the season.
The luxury tax prevented the Lakers from making major new additions to the team, even though they made the right moves. However, the Lakers' preseason moves generally pleased fans, signing center Deandre Ayton from free agency and signing Jake LaRavia; they also brought in Marcus Smart to bring more experience to the roster.
