The Lakers' nine-game winning streak came to an end on Monday when they were unable to defeat the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons, falling 110-113 at Little Caesars Arena. Despite the loss, the Lakers fought hard, twice narrowing the gap in the fourth quarter. Luka Dončić displayed his most competitive side; the Slovenian scored 32 points and was vocal with the referees throughout the game. The Lakers competed but ultimately struggled to keep the Pistons away from the basket, where the Pistons employed a physical style of play.
Fortunately for the Lakers, they face the last-place Pacers on Wednesday. Furthermore, Los Angeles already had the luxury of a comfortable 128-117 victory over Indiana on March 6, in a stellar performance where Dončić scored 44 points.
The Pacers, on the other hand, are coming off a win at the KIA Center against the Orlando Magic, shaking off their infamous 16-game losing streak. That was the worst losing streak in franchise history, but they managed to win 128-126 thanks to Siakam and Huff blocking Banchero's final shot for the Magic.
