The Dodgers-Padres rivalry had another chapter on Monday at Petco Park, a highly anticipated game for MLB fans and fans alike. Game 1 didn't disappoint, with a wild 10-inning romp that the Dodgers won 8-7, earning their 40th win of the season.

Pages and Edman drove in both winning runs before Jackson Merrill drove in the Padres' seventh in extra innings, but they still came up short. The Dodgers' first three batters contributed to the victory, but Freeman had a strong game, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

By Monday night, the Padres had yet to name a starter, but Dylan Cease is expected to open Game 2 for the Padres, while Roberts juggles trying to name a pitcher amid a disabled list that literally consists of an entire pitching staff.

Bets were even; the Padres' seven-run loss was their most in June. They had a series prior to this one in Milwaukee where they scored no more than three runs in three games.
