Pittsburgh Pirates vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers (42-24), with one of the best records in baseball, will be on the road for two 3-game sets that begin in Pittsburgh against the Pirates (34-32) this evening.

The Dodgers have gone just 4-3 over their first 7 games of this month. However, their last two games have seen some offensive explosions from their own lineups and their opposition. In the final two games against the Angels, they combined for a total of 29 runs. While they contributed 14 of those runs, it was more concerning the runs they allowed in those games. They will start Eric Lauer in this opening game with the Pirates. Lauer is just 2-5 with a large 5.74 ERA on the season. They will certainly need to give him some run support.

Providing the run support won’t come easy. They will be facing ace Paul Skenes from the Pirates tonight. However, Skenes has not been great in his past 4 starts. While there have been some unearned runs, he has allowed a total of 15 runs in his last 20 innings of work. The good news that he could get run support of his own with this Pirates lineup ranking 5th in the league in total runs scored on the season.
