Many people believe that we could be seeing a preview of the World Series in the series that begins tonight in the Bronx. The New York Yankees will host the Los Angeles Dodgers for a 3-game set to kick off the 2nd halves of their seasons.
The Dodgers stumbled into the break having lost 4 of their last 5, including 3 straight to the Diamondbacks. The pitching really struggled in their series with Arizona. They allowed a total of 23 runs over the 3 losses. The break may have come at just the right time for the struggling Dodgers, but things won’t be easy as they face a Yankee team that has been clicking lately. And that will be dangerous as the Dodgers will be starting Roki Sasaki, who has an ERA over 5.00 on the season.
New York won 4 straight games as they headed into the break, and after blowing out the Rays to start their winning streak, they found ways to win close ones in their sweep of the Washington Nationals. Veteran Gerrit Cole will step on the mound to start the series for the Yankees tonight. While Cole has not been as dominant as he has in the past, he has been decent in his recent starts.

This series should be fun and may start with a bang tonight. We leaned the over but feel more comfortable backing the veteran Cole at home in this one. Sasaki has not looked good over his last 5 starts. During that stretch, he has allowed 22 runs. We simply can’t back him against a Yankee lineup that can still put up numbers, even without Judge.
