The Detroit Tigers (45-49) welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers (55-39) to Comerica Park on Friday night to begin a 3-game series that will wrap up the Tigers homestand. They are coming off winning 3 of 4 against the Indians in their last series that featured 3 one run winning games. However, game four was a blowout by the Tigers. They handed Cleveland a 10-1 loss on their way out of Detroit. The Dodgers did not fair as well in their last series. They got big brothered by the NL leading Philadelphia Phillies and were swept in the 3-game road series. They are currently on a 4-game losing streak that they are desperate to snap. The Dodgers will have James Paxton (7-2, 4.24) on the mound for them to start this series. Paxton has not had his stuff in his last two starts. Over 9 innings of work, he has allowed 11 runs on 16 hits and struck out just 7 while walking 4. He will be countered by Tarik Skubal (10-3, 2.37) who has really built off his strong season last year. He last pitched against the Reds and picked up his 10th win by holding them to 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 13.
