The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to end their Japanese tour on a high note, eyeing back-to-back wins over the Chicago Cubs at Tokyo Dome on Tuesday. The Dodgers captured their first win of the season after topping the Chicago Cubs 4-1. The defending World Series champion proved they are still the team to beat this season by flexing their batting prowess and their depth of their bullpen. The Cubs drew first blood after Amaya scored an RBI double in the second inning. But the Dodgers didn’t take long to showcase firepower as center fielder Tommy Edman ignited a three-run rally with an RBI single in the 5th inning. Teoscar Hernandez punctuated the Dodgers’ win by driving Shohei Ohtani to home plate with another single. Shoto Imanaga played terrific against the Dodgers in front of his countryman. The Cubs’ opening day starter pitched four innings with zero earned runs and four walks. The problem arose from the Cubs’ lack of depth in their bullpen, as reserve pitcher Bruce Brown took the L after allowing three runs in that unfortunate fifth inning. The Cubs announced that Justin Steele would start against Dodgers’ offseason acquisition Roki Sasaki in the second and final game of the season-opening series.
