The Washington Nationals (52-64) are just 3-4 in the month of August and now begin a 3-game series to finish out their homestand against the visiting Los Angeles Angels (51-64). At 4-3 through 7 games this month, the Angels are keeping their heads above water after receiving the news of superstar Mike Trout being shut down for the remainder of the season. They are coming off back-to-back wins over the Yankees and now are in search of a winning streak tonight in DC. They will have Jose Soriano (6-7, 3.47) on the mound tonight. He is coming off arguably his best start of the season. He went 6 innings of shutout pitching over the Yankees and struck out 6 while not factoring into the decision. Mitchell Parker (6-6, 4.06) is also coming off a shutout start. He went 6 innings against the Brewers and allowed just 3 hits and struck out 3. Statistically neither team is actually jumping off the paper in a real positive way. The Nats have a slight advantage on offense as they are 15th in average but the Angels have a slight advantage in pitching. The Angels rank 23th in batting average against.
