Texas Rangers (46-46) and Los Angeles Angels (37-56) will close their three-game series on Thursday night at Globe Life Field. The Rangers took a commanding lead with an 8-3 win in the series opener on Tuesday. However, they couldn’t maintain the tempo on Wednesday night after getting outplayed 13-1. Their starting pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, had a night to forget after allowing seven earned runs in five innings. They’ll want to get off to a stronger start tonight.
The Angels, meanwhile, will be feeling confident ahead of tonight’s game after posting a big performance last night. Mike Trout was on fire in that game, hitting a two-run homer, whereas Jo Adell contributed two home runs. Trout’s return couldn’t have come at a better time after he missed the last 17 games due to a hamstring injury. It was evident that the Angels look like an improved side with the American outfielder. They’re the exciting +110 underdogs tonight.

The latest defeat also saw them fall back to .500 in the AL West, just 0.5 games behind the Mariners. However, instead of backing the Rangers to win, we’ll take the total runs to go over 6.5. The Rangers will look to put Reid Detmers under early pressure, knowing that the left-hander has had an inconsistent season. Detmers is 3-6 this year with a 4.13 ERA. Texas will start the more reliable Nathan Eovaldi, who is 9-7 with a 4.02 ERA. He gives them a more solid base to build on tonight.
