The Seattle Mariners (43-43) and the Los Angeles Angels (36-50) will play the 2nd game of their 3-game series this evening in Seattle. Last night, the Angels gave up their early lead and ultimately lost the game 6-2.
Cole Young of the Mariners provided most of the offense for Seattle. He went 3-3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs. George Kirby picked up his 7th win on the season after holding the Angels to 2 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings of work. He also struck out 7 while allowing just a single walk. Bryan Woo will get the start tonight and will look to keep this Angels offense in check once again.
Jose Soriano will go for the Angels. Soriano is 8-4 on the season, but is coming off 2 rough starts. After allowing 3 runs and walking 4 batters in 5 innings against the Athletics, he proceeded to get run out after just 3 innings of work against Baltimore in his latest start. The Orioles tagged him for 5 runs on 4 hits in that latest outing. Unless Soriano can figure things out tonight, the Angels might need to give him a bunch of run support to stay in this one.
