Why we should bet on the Angels to win: Jonathan Kochanowicz is scheduled to start on Wednesday, five days after stifling the Dodgers to one earned run in 6.2 innings. Kochanowicz has led the Angels to victory in his last two starts. The Athletics pounced on the Angels starter the last time he pitched against them, scoring 7 earned runs off of him. Kochanowicz may not match his outstanding game against the Dodgers a week ago, but I trust him to at least hold off the Athletics from building an early lead.
Why we should NOT bet on the Athletics to win: JP Sears is set to duel with Kochanowicz on Wednesday. Sears, arguably the best pitcher for the A’s this season, is coming off a lousy outing against the Giants on May 16, conceding 4 earned runs over 4.0 innings. Sears is a terrific pitcher, but I am not underestimating the Angels’ offense either, especially after seeing the damage they have dealt against opposing teams these past 5 games.
