The Baltimore Orioles (54-58, 30-29 Home) and Los Angeles Angels (43-69, 18-36 Away) are set to kick off a three-game series at Camden Yards at Oriole Park today with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EST (coverage provided by MLB.TV).
Neither team is bringing any momentum into the game. Yes, the Angels won their last game on Sunday, 3-0 over the Brewers, but had lost the previous five. Baltimore lost three of its last two and was outscored 14-0 in the last two games (one was called in six).
The Angels are scheduled to give Grayson Rodriguez the start. Rodriguez is 3-3 in ten starts with a 7.98 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP, with teams hitting .315 against him. He has been at his worst at home (1-3, 9.10 ERA) but hasn’t been stellar on the road despite his 2-0 mark in three starts (5.65 ERA, .264 OBA).
As for the Orioles, it is unclear who Baltimore is going to give the start to. Kyle Bradish started the last game, which would put Trevor Rogers, who last started on July 29, next up in the rotation. But if that was who they were going to go with, why haven’t they made it official?

When I saw Rodriguez was starting for the Angels, my first thought went to the OVER because of his high ERA, WHIP, and OBA. But then I examined his game log. Yes, he has some stinkers, but it hasn’t been all bad. He was decent against the Astros in his last start (5 innings, 5 hits, two earned runs (both via home runs)). I’d feel better making a prediction if I knew who the starting pitcher for the Orioles would be. But with how both teams have been hitting, that may not matter. LA has hit .186 over the last week, with 12 runs scored across five games; Baltimore has hit a league-worst .170, with 16 runs scored across five games.
With hitting like that, the UNDER is the only way to go.
