by Dan Angell in NCAA Picks
The Lindenwood Lions (0-0 SU, 0-0 ATS) meet up with the Kansas Jayhawks (0-0 SU, 0-0 ATS) in their first game ever against an FBS program. Lindenwood is a transitional team coming up from Division II, and the Lions have gone just 10-10 overall since making the move to Division I. However, that record is less impressive than it seems; only six of Lindenwood’s victories have come against Division I opponents.
Kansas represents a big step up in quality, which would have sounded crazy just two years ago. Lance Leipold has turned the Jayhawks into winners, and they’re coming off consecutive appearances in bowl games. Kansas starts the year ranked, which hasn’t happened since 2008. While the Jayhawks are clearly the superior team, the spread might be a little much for a team that’s got to work out a few things on offense.

Our Kansas Jayhawks vs Lindenwood Lions Prediction
The key to this game is what Kansas decides to value. The Jayhawks don’t have a home field this year, so they decided to go on the road early with a game at Illinois in Week 2. With Kansas facing a decent opponent next week, the Jayhawks’ biggest concerns will be getting out with minimal injuries and developing their depth.
Kansas isn’t likely to let Jalon Daniels play much more than necessary, given his injury history. But that doesn’t mean the Jayhawks’ offense will let their foot off the gas early. If something does happen to Daniels, the Jayhawks need to know that either Cole Ballard or Isaiah Marshall can run things in his absence. That means Kansas is likely to spend the game completely running its offense, and its backups are still a lot better than Lindenwood. With the Jayhawks having a clear goal and the defense still not fantastic, our prediction for Lindenwood vs. Kansas is Over 58.5 points.
