Portugal and Latvia will lock horns on Monday afternoon in a pivotal Group A clash at the 2025 EuroBasket. The Portuguese, who are 21st in the FIFA Power Rankings, have failed to replicate their impressive form in the qualifiers at this competition. They could not build on their 12-point win against the Czech Republic on Matchday 1 after suffering back-to-back losses against Serbia and Turkey. A loss on Monday could complicate their qualification arithmetic.
Latvia, on the other hand, comes into this event as one of the four host countries. The last time they won the EuroBasket was in 1935, and they will be eager to rewrite history at home. However, that already looks unlikely after losing two of their first three matches. They bounced back from their Matchday 1 loss to Turkey to defeat Estonia 72-70 before falling to Serbia by four points on Saturday. They certainly look like a solid team at this event.

They like to play basketball on fast transitions and will aim to maximize their size, crowd atmosphere, and perimeter shooting to floor the Portuguese.
