The Major League Soccer action is quite nicely spread out this weekend, with a few games taking place on Friday evening, including one in Los Angeles, where the LA Galaxy and the Vancouver Whitecaps will do business. This is a clash between the current MLS Cup holders and a team that has sights set on being crowned the next winner's of America's most prestigious domestic soccer prize. Some poor results recently derailed Vancouver's charge at the top, but the men from Canada remain in a strong position, sitting second in the Western Conference table. For the Galaxy, the picture is far more bleak, with Greg Vanney's men currently looking up at all other teams. In other words, they're stuck to the bottom of the table, a paltry nine points to their name.
Thankfully, things have started to improve for a team that took an age to get up and running this season. Friday's hosts have lost just one of their last four, while they battled hard to secure a tie away to the San Jose Earthquakes last time out. Can they now build on that by getting the better of one of the best in the west at home? We'll find out at Dignity Health Sports Park.
