MLS side, LA Galaxy, will start their Leagues Cup campaign with a game against Liga MX side, Club Tijuana, on Thursday night. LA Galaxy will play other Mexican sides, including Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna, in Group B. The 2024 MLS champions have struggled for form this season, sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference with only 16 points. They’ll have time to rest and recover after their league game against Houston was cancelled due to “inclement weather.”
Meanwhile, Club Tijuana will want to capitalize on LA Galaxy’s struggles in 2025 to get off to a winning start in this competition. The Mexicans failed to make it past the group stage of this competition in the last two editions, something they’ll look to rectify. In 2024, they lost to MLS sides LAFC and Vancouver, scoring only once while shipping in six goals. They’ll undoubtedly be eager to leave that behind them and lay down a marker in the group on Thursday.
