The only two previous matches between Pachuca of Liga MX and the LA Galaxy ever took place in 2007; at that time, a now-defunct competition called the Superliga was played, in one of the first attempts to merge the two best leagues in North America. Eighteen years later, the Leagues Cup, along with the Concacaf Champions League, now occupies the place of that friendly tournament. And it will be in the context of the 2025 Leagues Cup quarterfinals that LA Galaxy vs. Pachuca will once again be played.
Neither the LA Galaxy nor Pachuca excelled in the last edition of the Leagues Cup in 2024. In fact, for Pachuca, 2025 already represents their furthest run, while the first Leagues Cup, in 2019, was their most successful for the LA Galaxy, when they reached the semifinals.
Of the four quarterfinal matches, the LA Galaxy-Pachuca matchup, to be played Wednesday at Dignity Health Sports Park, appears to be the closest in the betting mix.

Los Angeles Galaxy - CF Pachuca: Form Analysis
The curious thing about this Pachuca-LA Galaxy matchup is that it's a match between the first-place team in the recently started Liga MX Apertura tournament, Pachuca with 12 points, and the LA Galaxy, the reigning 2024 MLS champion, but curiously, last in the Western Conference in 2025 with 16 points in 26 games in a disastrous campaign that not even the most experienced team could have predicted.
While it's true that only winning the Leagues Cup trophy could save the LA Galaxy's 2025 season, the truth is that, with a bit of luck, they'll reach the quarterfinals of this competition, given that they had to play against the already eliminated Santos Laguna on Matchday 3. The weak Mexican team also fielded an alternate team knowing they were already eliminated, and two players were sent off before halftime, resulting in a comfortable 4-0 victory for the LA Galaxy that allowed them to advance to the next round.
Before losing to Tijuana, Pachuca had the best possible start to Liga MX, earning 12 out of 12 possible points. In the Leagues Cup, they defeated Western Conference leader San Diego FC 3-2. They then defeated the Houston Dynamo to advance to the top eight of the tournament.

There are important players on both sides who will surely make their mark on Wednesday; One of them from Pachuca is midfielder Elías Montiel, who in their Liga MX matchday 4 against Atlas recorded two assists and scored a goal against LAFC in the Leagues Cup. He is sometimes referred to as the brains of the Mexican team.
After Jhonder Cádiz had an electric start to his new role with Pachuca, his performance has slipped slightly in the last four matches, including a red card in the Leagues Cup against LAFC. However, the center forward and sole striker will clearly want to reconnect with the goal.
For the LA Galaxy, the most experienced player is Marco Reus, the well-known German World Cup champion. He scored a goal in the 5-2 win over Tijuana in the same competition and is likely to see minutes on Wednesday.
