One of the final midweek games to kick off in Major League Soccer on Wednesday evening sees the Los Angeles Galaxy take on Austin FC in front of a home crowd. Have the hosts finally turned a corner? Are they ready to rocket up the Western Conference table and perform like the current MLS Cup holders? It's a little early to say one way or another, but Greg Vanney's men have improved in recent weeks, losing only one of their last six games, three of which they've won, while they come into this game off the back of securing consecutive wins for the first time in 2025.
The hosts aren't the only ones too approach this game in decent shape, though. The Austin boys have been rather competitive in recent weeks, losing only one of their last five in all competitions, and they ought to be feeling good after securing a place in the US Open Cup semifinals. Then again, they've not been great on the road, at least from a results point of view, so this may just be seen as a big opportunity to make it three wins on the bounce for the hosts. OK, look, Myrto Uzuni hasn't exactly hit the ground running in Major League Soccer, but the Albanian forward may just be coming to the boil. He notched a well-taken goal in the US Open Cup recently, while he looked hungry for more last time out, shooting three times.
Ask LaLiga2 defenders and they'll tell you how deadly Uzuni can be, so don't be surprised if the veteran starts finding the net on a more frequent basis sooner rather than later. I'm betting on him to score a second goal in three games here.
