The Los Angeles Sparks (11-17) visit the Chicago Sky (11-19) for a 2026 WNBA regular season matchup on Wednesday, August 5, at Wintrust Arena.
So far, the Sparks and the Sky have split their head-to-head series this season. Early in July, the Sparks carved a 102-87 victory, which the Sky answered with a 96-82 win one week after.
But the Sparks stirred up the WNBA world recently, trading All-Star guard Kelsey Plum to the Phoenix Mercury for Monique Akoa Makani and a couple of draft picks. Granted that Plum hasn't been at her healthiest this season, it was initially mind-boggling as to why the Sparks decided to start a roster teardown.
But The Athletic later on reported that Plum doesn't plan to re-sign with the Sparks after this season. This meant that the Sparks will start another rebuild, and they might just sacrifice this season.
As for the Sky, they're coming off a 106-101 loss to the Mercury on Monday. They allowed the Mercury to make half of their attempts, which included Plum torching them with 20 points off the bench.
The positive outlook for the Sky is they still won two of their last three games, including a surprising one-point victory over perennial contenders Las Vegas Aces.
