The No. 24 Tennessee Volunteers (12-5, 2-2 SEC) will host the Kentucky Wildcats (11-6, 2-2 SEC) at the Food City Center in Knoxville, TN. Tipoff for this SEC battle is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST, with coverage provided by ESPN.
Tennessee made it through its nonconference schedule with a respectable 10-3 record with wins over No. 3 Houston (76-73) and No. 11 Illinois (83-62). They got SEC play started with a tough one against No. 18 Arkansas on the road, losing 86-75. After bouncing back with a win over Texas (85-71) at home, they lost to Florida on the road (912-67). The Vols beat Texas A&M in their last game (Tuesday) in double overtime, 87-82. As for Kentucky, it’s been a tough road for the Wildcats. They started the season off with a 5-4 record in their first nine games. But, to be fair, all four losses were to ranked teams. Their first win over a ranked team did not come until December 20, when they took down No. 22 St. John’s (78-66). After starting SEC play with a pair of losses (to No. 14 Alabama and Missouri), they beat Mississippi State, 92-68, and squeezed past LSU on Wednesday, 75-74
