The SEC Tournament quarterfinals conclude with the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats facing the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide. Tipoff for this SEC battle between ranked teams is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET. Fans can find coverage of the game via the SEC Network.

Kentucky faced a tougher-than-expected fight from Oklahoma in the second round. The Wildcats led by two at the half, 40-38, and the game remained close for most of the second. Kentucky pulled ahead by as much as 12 late in the half before a furious Sooner rally put Oklahoma up 84-83 with six seconds left. Otega Oweh hit a buzzer-beater to secure the win for the Wildcats. As for Alabama, the Tide last played vs. Auburn in their regular-season finale, where they ended a two-game losing streak with a 93-91 win in OT. But Alabama had lost three of its previous five games, all vs. ranked opponents. The losses were to No. 15 Missouri, No. 5 Tennessee, and No. 5 Florida, while the wins came against No. 17 Kentucky and No. 24 Mississippi State. In four of the five, both teams scored 80+ points; the loss to Tennessee was the outlier (79-76).

Alabama vs Kentucky Wildcats Form

Alabama - Kentucky Wildcats Key Points

  1. Kentucky has dominated the all-time series vs. Alabama, 114-42.
  2. Alabama has won three of the last four meetings.
  3. Alabama’s defense is one of the worst in the country (No. 346, 81.1 ppg allowed), but they have the No. 1 offense in the country (91.2 ppg).
  4. Kentucky is in a similar position with the No. 3 offense in the country (85.8 ppg) and the No. 308 defense (77.8 ppg allowed).

Our Alabama vs Kentucky Wildcats Prediction

Alabama won both regular season meetings, 102-97 in Lexington and 96-83 at home. With how those two games went, we can be confident in one thing—a lot of points will get scored in this game. Neither team cares a lick about defense, and that will be evident in this game. But after the battle Kentucky had vs. Oklahoma, it’s fair to worry about fatigue. That possibility makes me say ‘pass’ on betting the spread (for either team). But why bother with the spread when you know this game is going to be a barnburner? The total is high, but that’s not going to matter.
