Karen Khachanov of Russia will walk into Thursday’s clash with Kamil Majchrzak of Poland as a clear-cut favorite (-380) in the second round of the 2025 US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Khachanov seeks to match or even better his semifinal stint in this tournament three years ago. Khachanov, who finished runner-up to Ben Shelton at the 2025 Canadian Open, cleared his first test in this year’s US Open with a hard-earned four-set win over American Nishesh Bassavareddy, 6-7(5) 6-3 7-5 6-1. Ranked No.9 in the latest ATP World Rankings, Khachanov boasts a 13-8 record on the hard court in 2025 and a career 60.8 percent win rate in all hard-court matches in his career.
Majchrzak is also off to a triumphant start in Flushing Meadows after topping Hugo Dellien of Bolivia 6-1, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in the first round. The 29-year-old Majchrzak is trying to equal his best finish at the US Open, a round-of-32 appearance in 2019. Carrying a 67.3 percent win rate on the hard court, the Pole has the numbers and experience to challenge Khachanov, who is being viewed as one of the dark horse contenders in this tournament.
