Qarabag host rock bottom Ajax in a key Champions League clash on Wednesday evening at the Azersun Arena.
After an outstanding start to their Champions League campaign, Qarabag have stumbled in recent matches and are in danger of slipping out of the qualification places. The 2-0 reverse at Napoli on Matchday Five saw them drop to 19th in the standings. The Azerbaijan champions have a tough final two fixtures after Christmas (Frankfurt and Liverpool), so if they want to secure a spot in the playoffs, victory on Wednesday evening is essential.
The good news for Qarabag is that Ajax are enduring a horrendous European season. After five Champions League games, the Dutch giants are still searching for their first point. Another defeat on Wednesday would completely end their hopes of qualification.
