Texas Rangers vs Kansas City Royals Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Texas Rangers (25-31, 12-13 Home) will host the Kansas City Royals (22-34, 7-17 Away) today in the first of a three-game weekend series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. First Pitch for this AL battle is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.

It’s been a rough week for the home team as the Rangers dropped three of four games to their in-state rivals, the Houston Astros. The lineup struggled to get on track against the Astros for most of the series. While they scored ten runs in the game they won, they were outscored 18-4.

MacKenzie Gore will start the day on the mound for the Rangers. Gore is 3-4 in 11 starts with a 4.42 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He has definitely been at his best when pitching at home, where he is 2-0 in four starts with a 2.63 ERA and a .185 OBA.  He went eight innings in his last home start (May 12 vs. Arizona), allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out five.

Stephen Kolek is set to get the start of the Royals. Kolek is 3-0 in four starts with a 2.77 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP. He pitched a complete game shutout against Seattle in his last outing and hasn’t allowed a run since his second start (May 12 vs. White Sox).
