St. Louis Cardinals vs Kansas City Royals Prediction & Picks - MLB

The St. Louis Cardinals (25-18) will host the Kansas City Royals (19-25) for a 3-game series that begins tonight at Busch Stadium. Neither team has looked great over their recent games, but they have some commonalities.

The Royals have been streaky the entire month of May. They came out of the gate hot by winning 5 straight games. They then lost two before winning their next two. Unfortunately, the losing streak picked back up, and they find themselves in the midst of a 4-game losing streak. During the majority of the month, the Royals have seen the scoreboard put up decent-sized numbers with several overs coming home in their games. In fact, in their current 4-game losing streak, the total score has averaged at 9.75 runs per game.

The Cardinals have not been streaky at all this month. They have seemingly been trading wins for losses, but have yet to string together 3 of either type of outcome. While they have not seen the wins or losses come at a solid rate, they have seen runs being scored in totality over their last 3-games. In those games, the Royals and their opponents have averaged 9 runs per game.

Neither of these teams has had solid pitching this year. They both rank outside the top 15 in combined ERA, and that has played a part in these higher totals coming home.
