Two elite defensive teams with good pitching met in the San Francisco Bay Area for a three-game series that concludes Wednesday between the Giants and Royals after they split Games 1 and 2.

These were two captivating games. Tuesday's game was won 3-2 by the Giants thanks to five innings pitched by Birdsong, followed by a spectacular performance by the bullpen. Rodríguez, Harrison Doval, and Walker combined to pitch four innings, allowing just one run and striking out six to win the game.

The Giants' offense regressed in terms of hitting. It was obvious the offensive rhythm from the beginning of the season wouldn't be sustainable in the long term for their lineup. They returned to what was expected but still maintain good numbers. The Giants have occasional power, as evidenced by the three-homer game that Venezuelan pitcher Flores hit on May 16. However, in their last four games, the two teams have not scored more than five runs.

Who will start Game 3 for the Royals is still unknown, but with Webb pitching for the Giants, it's clear the home team is the favorite to win the series.
