New York Mets vs Kansas City Royals Prediction & Picks - MLB

The New York Mets (38-53) are riding the high of winning back-to-back games against divisional rivals. They were able to split their 4-game series against the Braves by winning those final 2 games of the series over the last 2 days. Now, they head back to home to host the visiting Kansas City Royals (37-54).

The Royals are coming off back-to-back wins as well. Their wins came over the Philadelphia Phillies. They exploded for 15 runs last night in the win, an anomaly after they had only scored 8 runs in their last 4 games combined. While the Royals have had decent success at the plate as a team, they have struggled in knocking runs throughout the season. Their .245 combined batting average is 13th in the league, but they are 20th overall in total runs scored.

The Mets are not just coming off 2 wins, but they picked up those wins in higher scoring affairs. They posted 10 runs on Sunday and followed that up with 7 runs last night. They needed every one of those runs as they won both games by just a single run. Like the Royals, these higher-scoring games are not commonplace this season. In fact, the Mets have scored at an even slower pace than these Royals. The 369 total runs they have scored are only good enough for 25th in the league.
