They opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the sixth, which the Tigers followed with a three-run shot in the seventh. But then they tied the game up at 3-3 with a run in the top half of the eighth, only to see Detroit pull ahead for good in the bottom half.
Kansas City appears set to go with a bullpen day, with reliever Beck Way scheduled to start. Way is 1-0 in 18 appearances (no starts) with a 3.22 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. He has not been great on the road, where he has a 6.10 ERA and a .317 OBA. It is, however, where he got his one and only win.
As for the Tigers, Detroit is scheduled to go with Tarik Skubal. Skubal is 6-5 in 14 starts with a 2.83 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. He is 2-2 at home in six starts with a .225 ERA.

Kansas City has been better at the plate since the Break (.266 to .243), but both teams have recorded 30 runs over the last seven games, so I wouldn’t say anyone has an advantage. Skubal has not been the dominant guy fans know and love, but he has still been one of the better pitchers in baseball. However, the Royals are going with a bullpen day, and their pen has one of the highest ERAs in baseball (5.43). However, there is no value in the moneyline (-303), and I can’t say with confidence the lineup will give Skubal enough support to cover the run line. Kansas City’s last four games were decided by a run, and today will be no different.
