The Kansas City Royals (74-58 SU, 74-58 ATS) face the Cleveland Guardians (75-57 SU, 65-67 ATS) with a chance to move into first place in the AL Central. The Guardians have led the division most of the way on the back of a strong start to the year, but they’re struggling to hold off the Royals. Kansas City has shaved the division lead to a single game, in part because the Royals have dominated the division all year long.
Kansas City owns a 28-13 record against the AL Central, and that has not been exclusive to beating up on the Tigers and White Sox. The Royals are 6-2 against the Guardians this year, including sweeping the first two games of this series. Cleveland, on the other hand, keeps losing opportunities inside the division. If the Guardians can’t get their momentum back, what started as dominance could end with Cleveland having to go through the wild card round.
