The Kansas City Chiefs (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) visit the Atlanta Falcons (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) in a matchup that could prove whether the hosts are contenders or pretenders. The Falcons have gotten off to a slow start as Kirk Cousins gets adjusted to his new team, and the early predictions of them running away with the NFC South look a bit premature as they’ve seen New Orleans and Tampa Bay look impressive.
Kansas City remains one of the main contenders until someone says otherwise. The Chiefs have been through a pair of tight battles with Cincinnati and Baltimore, both of which were expected. Atlanta looks like it’s still figuring out which pieces go where. The Falcons really weren’t up to par in either of their first two games this season, and they only just barely escaped against Philadelphia because the Eagles made some poor decisions down the stretch.
Kansas City isn’t likely to do anything like that. The Chiefs have played two tight games, but they did so against teams that have been deep into the playoffs recently and are highly likely to be there again in January. These Chiefs have all the pieces they need to make yet another run at title, and the Falcons don’t yet seem ready to challenge them. Even on their home turf, this is a tough ask for Atlanta. Our prediction for Kansas City vs. Atlanta is Chiefs -3.
