Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine will open her campaign at the MSC Ladies Humberg Open against Jule Niemeier of Germany on Wednesday.
Yastremska will be trying to build on a third-round stint at this year’s Wimbledon Open in Hamburg. The Ukrainian ousted reigning French Open champion Coco Gauff 7-6(3) 6-1 in the first round of the grass-court slam. Yastremska scored one more win against Anastasia Zakharova of Russia 5-7 7-5 7-6(8) before bowing to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain 6-1 2-6 6-3.
After failing to qualify for the main draw of the Wimbledon Open, Niemeier only won one match at the Nordea Open before crashing out of the tournament. Niemeier blasted Nao Habino of Japan 6-1 6-2 before bowing to Lucia Bronzetti of Italy in three sets 6-2 4-6 6-2. Niemeier is in the midst of a down year, carrying a 4-9 record on clay and 9-18 overall record in 2025.
