by Bradley Gibbs in ATP US Open Picks
The man looking to atone for his Wimbledon final defeat and add a second Grand Slam victory of the year will be back in action at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday. That's right, it's Carlos Alcaraz, who will look to continue storming towards yet another major success by beating Jiri Lehecka, who may not be the easiest player to get the better of. The world number two approaches this match in fine form having lost none of his matches since the end of the grass-court season, but he's up against one of the few players to have already beaten him in 2025, so the five-time Grand Slam champion may have to work harder than he has so far at this tournament to get the job done.
Lehecka has looked in good condition at this event so far, while he too has typically won with regularlity since the switch to hard surfaces. Earlier in the year, the Czech player beat Alcaraz in Qatar, while he also won a set when the pair met in London back in June, so we probably shouldn't be too surprised if the world number 21 pushed the Spaniard a little harder than anyone else has managed to at the US Open.

Our Jiri Lehecka vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction
Since the switch to a hard surface post Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz has been in imperious form, beating each player that he's faced, rarely dropping a set in the process. However, we know that the Spaniard often drops a set when it gets serious at this stage of Grand Slams, even if he has the quality to typically overcome such setbacks, while he did lose to Jiri Lehecka in a three-set match earlier in the campaign. Lehecka is a strong hard-court player and even if beating Alcaraz over five sets is very, very hard to do, the Czech player can, at the very least, avoid a straight-set defeat. Crucially, he looks a little generously priced to do that. Our Jiri Lehecka vs Carlos Alcaraz Pick: Jiri Lehecka +2.5 Sets.
