Pegula has become the marathon queen at the China Open, surviving three consecutive three-set matches to reach the semifinal stage of this WTA 1000 tournament. Her latest escape act came against compatriot Emma Navarro, the same player who stunned No.1 seed Iga Swiatek in the fourth-round. After losing a hotly-contest tiebreaker in the first set, Pegula flipped the switch and flat out dominated Navarro in the second and third set. Pegula dropped only three games in the final two sets on her way to a 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 victory. With the victory, the American pulls one win away from reaching her sixth final this year.

Standing on Pegula’s way to the championship match is Linda Noskova. The 20-year-old Czech is low key enjoying a solid year on the tour. She’s 21-13 on the hard court and 33-22 overall in 2025. In her quarterfinal win over a streaking Sonay Kartal 6-3, 6-4, Noskova unloaded 21 first-serve points, on top of six aces, and broke the Brit five times. Noskova is gunning for her first final appearance at a WTA 1000 event. The furthest she had reached at the WTA 1000 level was when she made it in the quarterfinal of the Dubai Tennis Championship earlier this year.
