Jesper De Jong of the Netherlands will take on Harold Mayot of France in the second round of the qualifying stage at the 2025 US Open Championships. Ranked No.80 in the world, De Jong opened at -179 ahead of his third career faceoff with the 103rd-ranked Mayot.
De Jong progressed into the second round of the qualifiers at the US Open following a pedestrian 6-3, 6-4 win over Vilius Gaubas of Lithuania. De Jong, who skipped all the warm-up tournaments during the North American hard-court season and went beeline for the US Open qualifiers, surrendered only one breakpoint against the 20-year-old Gaubas, capturing 23 points behind the first serves and adding 13 more off the second serves. De Jong also converted four breakpoints, shattering any hope of an upset by Gaubas.
Mayot also scored a straight-set win over Johannus Monday of Great Britain 7-5 6-3 to advance into the second round of the qualifiers. Mayot also gave up one breakpoint after winning 91 percent of his first serves, on top of 10 aces. He also broke Monday three times for good measures.
