The Pacers absorbed their second loss of the season after receiving a beatdown at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, 128-103. After exploding for 36 points in the double overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder 135-141, Benedict Mathurin posted 26 points on 66.7 percent field goal shooting to lead the charge for the Pacers, who were missing starting point guard Andrew Nembhard due to an injury. Tyrese Haliburton will also miss the whole season with a torn Achilles Heel, giving Mathurin, Nembhard and Pascal Siakam extra baggage to carry for the Eastern Conference champion.
The Timberwolves suffered their first loss of their new campaign as they succumbed to Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Edwards recorded 31 points and 5 assists, and Julius Randle recorded 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Outside these two stars, only Jaden McDaniels (10) and Donte DiVincenzo (13) scored in double figures. Minnesota allowed the Lakers to shoot 59.2 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from the three-point line.
